Hello Out There! I am using Matt Dillon's UUCP package and I can't figure out how to ensure that my modem speaker never comes on. My modem is fully hayes compatible and I have tried everything to make it shut up, but sometimes when it is calling out with uucico or a call is incoming, the modem speaker comes on. Has anyone else seen this? Any fixes? jake

Have you tried the "getty -m0" command? Steve

Steve, my getty command uses 'getty -c0 -B2400 -m0 -Mh -7' … see any problems with that? jake

Looks fine to me. Maybe it was a bug in the version you have? Someone just uploaded the newest version of UUCP (1.11). Maybe you should try that. Steve

Steve: The latest version of UUCP (1.11) has some bugs in it. The worst one is with it's handling of the send-wait sequences, and the way it handles waiting for "". I had to go back to 1.10 until Matt fixes it. -Mike Schiller In sunny Fort Lauderdale

I saw the new version today, and I may go ahead and download it … I just have to decide whether the annoyance of the modem speaker coming on is worth the $$$ of downloading it from here or whether I can wait for a Fish disk (or get it over the internet). Thanx for your help!! jake
