I recently loaded the unprotected copy of DMCS onto my Supradrive hard disk but I have a problem when trying to play a score through MIDI: the whole program crashes (No guru, it just locks up). When I boot from a floppy everything is OK, except it won't recognize the hard drive. Other MIDI programs which I run from my hard drive, namely "M" and Bars and Pipes, run OK. Is there a fix? Has anyone else had this problem. My machine is an Amiga 2000 with 5 meg RAM.

Do you have problems accessing the Score Setup from the menu? Also what is the filesize of DMCS. The last revision of DMCS (sometime in 1987) dealt with HD problems. I have no problem with MIDI but when I exit the program it always crashes.

Eric, The problem is probably that DMCS has some problems with the latest version of the serial.device. The easiest thing to do is probably to boot from the floppy, or back up to the WB 1.3 serial.device in your DEVS: directory on the hard disk. I get around this by running DMCS and SoundScape Pro MIDI Studio together. DMCS then works through SoundScape, and doesn't access the serial.device directly. (I wouldn't recommend getting SoundScape for only this reason, but if you've got it, it does serve a purpose.) Another trick I've found that seems to make DMCS a bit more stable is to never, ever choose the CANCEL box in a requester. Hope this helps, 8) David

I have an Amiga 1000 with 2.5 meg and a hard drive. I use DMCS and it works fine haven't had any experience with MIDI but I also crash when I exit the program. – via Whap!
