I leave in Canada and when stores received their first STs, they were selling
for $1399($1599 color), but now they are selling for $1199($1499 color) while
the Amiga is STILL selling for $3100 (512k RGB mon.)
The ST desktop in 640/400 looks MUCH more professionnal than the Amiga
workbench by the way…(clearest picture).
Have you heard of the NEW graphic chip for the 520ST(not the 1040ST)? That
chip will display 256 colors from a pallette of 4096. I guess you'll just
have to unplug the old one and insert the new one.
Anyway, I don't think the ST's sell will hurt the Amiga's sell because they
are not even aimed at the same market. I don't think STs owners would have
bought an Amiga instead. The price difference is too big. It is like saying
if there was no C64, people would buy an IBM! Makes no sense!
