#EGA Card/Monitor
9 messages in this thread
Does anyone know if it is a requirement to hook up an "EGA Monitor" to an EGA
Card? I'll be using this on the IBM side of the A2000. Don't ask why…it's a
long story! I'd rather use one of CBM's 1084 RGB Analog monitors. Is that a
valid possibliity? Thanks! -Brendan Larson, WeatherConnect
Brendan,
Contrary to what Larry says…yes, I believe it is necessary to use an
EGA compatible monitor with an EGA card…at least when it is running in EGA
mode since my memory tells me that EGA has about twice the horizontal sync rate
that NTSC uses and that will (can) fry an Amiga monitor.

Oops… whay do I always make the mistake of thinking that IBM is anywhere near
normal? I'll go delete that message now. Thanks Don.
Regards, Larry.
<Smacking Larry's hand> Repeat after me:
The IBM is NOT NORMAL!
The IBM is SICK!
The IBM is an INFERIOR product! (Compared to generic toilet paper)
The IBM is BAAAAAAD!
I will NOT think the IBM is normal! I will NOT!
Now, go to your room and chew on your bippie, young man. <mmmmmph>.
ben,
Such was the nature of my chagrin over the impure thoughts that IBM was
normal, that I changed my screen to green on black for 3 hours as a penance. I
felt that any more would be cruel and unusual punishment.
Regards, Larry.
