TTR visited our user group, Amuse, on Tuesday. Generally fun stuff. Of
particular interest was a demo of an alpha version of a driver for DAT
drives that makes the tape look like a normal Amiga device.
Todd from TTR claimed this will allow a couple minutes of 24-bit animation
to be layed down frame-by-frame then played in real time from a tape. Those
thinking about a single-frame VTR may want to investigate this option.

Just a word of caution about TTR. From my dealings with them, I would take
any statements from Todd with a grain of salt. Todd's function is
marketing, but he has made statements to me that were quite "inaccurate"
technically. Personally, I will not do any further business with that
company.

Personally, I would be very suspect of any claims to real-time 24-bit
animation. "Real-time" and "24-bit" are often stretched beyond belief these
days. For example, I guess you could pull 15 frames of 3-bitplane DCTV data
off a device each second. Will it look impressive? Sure. Is it real-time
24-bit? No way.
