RE: HDBoot The ComSpec is not to `Commodore Spec' (pun intended, but true) so don't get confused. Commodore will boot from the HD at some point and when CBM announces a standard, all of us guys will adhere to it. From our position, we have been able to bend our existing controller to work with FFS and any other changes CBM has made so far and we are anticipating offering upgrades to comply with HDBoot specs for all of our existing controllers (500, 1000 and 2000). Our controller design is such that it can be changed as required, and our requirements are to comply with what CBM dictates. E.J. Lippert II C Ltd. – (316) 267-6322

Will the upgrade require hardware changes, software only, or some firmware? – Steve –

Steve, It will require a bit of hardware in the form of firmware and any decoding, etc. that might be required to address a ROM. Regards, Larry.
