Yet another composting question: I was plan on layering in wood ash in my
compost pile. But I realized that occasionally I burned one of those prefab
logs – Duraflame by name – in the fireplace that is the source of the wood
ash. I know that charcoal is not supposed to be added to the compost piles.
Would the same apply to these prefab logs? I'm not sure if there is
anything toxic in them (in fact, I am not sure at all what is in them,
although I think it is some kind of wax compound and wood products – next
week I'll call the company and try and find out). Any thoughts on this? —
