Would be (or current) orchid lovers in the metropolitan New York area may be interested in the following orchid shows: March 12-15: North Jersey Orchid Society Orchid Show and Sale: held at the Morristown Headquarters Plaza Mall, mall hours. Good, fairly large show with lots of vendors from all over and plenty of exhibits, all labeled with orchid names so you'll know what to ask for when you see something you want to buy. April 9-12: Greater New York Orchid Society Show and Sale: This is probably the premier orchid event in the country. Held in downtown Manhattan in the Winter Garden of the Financial Center on the east river. Utterly magnificent, one of (if not now the) largest orchid show in the United States. Vendors from all over the United States, plus from South America, France, England and Australia. If you've never been to an orchid show and will be in the vicinity of NY during this time, DON'T MISS IT. You will be spoiled forever. If you join the Greater New York Orchid Society for $20 before the show opens, you'll be eligible to go to the gala preview party the night before the show opens to the public, plus get one of the best monthly orchid newsletters every month.
