My older brother is an Amiga user and is on a fixed income, I'd like to buy him a new printer but have no idea which ones are compatible with the Amiga. Any and all will be greatly appreciated. Regards – Steve

Steve, I don`t know what type of printer`s are common in USA. However here in Germany there EPSON,STAR,FUJITSU,CITICEN,NEC. And I can`t think of any printer not running on a AMIGA !! It is only up to you how much mony you like to spend. Anyhow, just consult one of the a.m. dealers and let them show you something. Don`t forget to ask your brother for what purpose he like to use the printer !! It makes no sense to get yourselv a printer for US$ 2000.- and then just print out a few files once and then !! – Horst –

Stephen, Any printer which will work on an IBM PC will work on an Amiga. Darin – via Whap!

Darin, Any printer which will work on an IBM PC SHOULD work on an Amiga. I just got through a frustrating experince trying to get a NEC P3200 to work. The older model P2200 worked just fine (I was using a borrowed P2200 for a month or so, which is the reason I bought the 3200). Seems NEC changed something in the Centronics interface (at this point I'm convinced it's timing not levels). The problem was not specific to my machine, I tryed it out on others at work. I finally gave up and sold it to someone using an IBM and picked up a DeskJet 500. Peter

Not true. There is an IBM postscript laser which requires an 8-bit card in the machine. That won't run on a bridgeboard-less Amiga.
