Ok as promised, here is the hack to add another slot to your A3000 for the
bridgeboards.

It's really easy and it shouldn't void your warranty since you don't have
to make any changes to the computer itself. Basically what you do is make
a Y ribbon cable and plug it into the lowest IBM slot, which is the
next-to-the-lowest slot. The _lowest_ slot is an Amiga slot and that's
where you put your 3rd IBM board, which plugs into your Y cable. If you
make it compact, it doesn't take up too much room and you can still put the
cover back on your A3000 with your boards plugged into it (unless you have
a very tall board.)
What I did was get an old parallel interface board and hack off the part
with the card-edge terminals on it with a hack saw. (If you want to make
an AT slot, get an AT style board. But then you knew that, right? Make
sure you get one that has nice solder pads on it. It will make your life
easier.) Then I got two card-edge connectors from a dead AT motherboard.
(I'm sure you could buy these parts new if you wanted to.) I then
connected each terminal of the card edge to the corresponding contacts on
the cardedge connectors with ribbon cable. In other words, you hook
everything up in parallel. That's it.
To make it very compact, I bent the leads of one of the edge connectors
inward and soldered them directly onto the card edge and only ran the
ribbon cable to the second connector.
That's all I did and it works great. I posted an article about it and got
some suggestions from Dave Haynie (the guy who designed the A3000's
