I write to ask whether there are software controls for PPS Framegrabber or
SuperGen available which would allow me to control these devices from
within a director script?
Second, I am interested in whether it would be possible to set up an Amiga
with SuperGen running and use the Director to switch between incoming live
video and "stuff" generated on the display by a normal Director script. I
was thinking that since video comes in from color zero, it might be
possible to create images painted without color zero to mask the genlocked
video, then awitch to images with color zero to admit video. Is this
possible? Any comments or suggestions?

AREXX can be used where there are equivalent AREXX drivers to talk to the
devices. We have been exploring a framegrabber module but I don't know
exactly when it might be available. Part of the problem is deciding how to
process the image (if at all). By default, the image comes in 24 bit (or
21 bit or something) and must be reduced to a displayable resolution, or
loaded into several buffers if it is needed to keep the image in full
resolution.

I think the idea of a Framegrabber module is VERY exciting. The
possibility of grabbing images from within the director, saving them and
incorporating them into a program while it is running opens up a great many
possibilities for interactive work. I hope this proves to be worthy of your
continued attention.
The Director 2 is really teriffic. It has been very gratifying to
see the attention paid to it in recent AmigaWorld and Amazing Computing
articles. The sense of its power and flexibility comes through and the
manual is so well done, it really helps reduce the learning curve.
