Anyone from Goodearth huddling here? <G> Let's get something started!
Ruth, lots of us are here! What do you want to get started, other than
seedlings?
hehehe – loved "seedlings". I think I'm the only non-gardener who walked
the halls (or should I say furrows) of Goodearth. Several I communicated
with, mostly on Sunday night CO, were not on and I missed the general,
easy contact. Actually, my husband is the gardener but he won't touch a
computer. Thanks for responding.

Here's another non-gardener. My wife is the gardener here and SHE hates
computers. I stumbled across this forum by accident thinking it was Good
earth.

No, Goodearth bit the dust (no pun intended) when CI$ decided it wasn't
making enough money for it. Tough bananas to all of us who made it the very
special forum that it was – gardening info included – but…..well, it's
gone. Howard is an asst. Sysop in this forum, so at least it has ONE person
with a good, personal and caring attitude. We trained him well in Goodearth
<G>. Don't know any of the others, so can't speak for nor against them.
Many of us still are kind of wandering around looking for a "home". AT
least we have a CO place arranged on Sunday nights, where we can still
share with each other.
Enough gloom-&-doom! Have fun 'puting and your wife and my husband can
go dig weeds….or whatever it is they dig! <G>
Ruth – i guess a lot of us started on Goodearth because of a general
reverence for the natural world. But i think that's equally true of the
people on this forum; it's just all the same thing, whether it gets called
Goodearth or Gardening or whatever. "home" is whatever we make it. maybe
we should have a subsection here called Goodearth, where Goodearth
"refugees" can find each other immediately. Doesn't matter who gardens and
who doesn't; this is still a great spot for meeting.
Judy, I agree with you about people being good no matter where they're
found. I think there were some political/commercial complications involved
(i.e.: The Gardening Magazine paying a substanctial amount to CI$ for this
forum). What was most upsetting was that we'd lose our Conference time,
which meant so much to so many of us. I know there is time reserved for a
CO on Sunday night in this forum, but it wouldn't be the free and
easy-wheeling times we had. And we can live…
..in spite of the soap-opera aspect <G>. Thanks for responding.

Hi, o great swimmer! I swam over awhile back. Tried to comment on
your msg to Howard about getting together for dinner, but my 'puter took
swearing lessons from Dave's (line noise – G) so I logged off. Phone Co.
was here the next day to say the rain had gotten into an underground cable.
My first iris bloomed during one of the showers. Orange Flame –
gorgeous!!!

Iris ALREADY!!!!! Even I think that's rather early for iris – and I do not
claim much gardening knowledge. I do know the difference between a rose and
an iris and violets. In fact, we use violets for ground cover. Look great,
are hardy, and smell wonderful. We had one casulty here. Our acacia, which
was absolutely COVERED with yellow blossoms, got so heavy with rain that a
major branch sheared off. Poor tree, that must have hurt. Anyhow, we
finished cutting it off, dragged it to the parkway and then let our
gardener finish the job. He has a power saw!
Glad to see your phone is dry again so you can talk. Anyhow, about that
dinner. Let me know. I haven't heard from Howard, yet.
