Clement, all I can offer is this…Halfbtite uses 6 bitplanes. The first 5 are for the 32 colors in regular lo-res. The 6th bplane is used to signify whether or not that pixel is to be half as bright as it's lo-res counterpart. A 0=regular color, 1=color is to be half as bright. Can't offer any more though. Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. 🙂
