I read some of the other responses to your inquirey, and although all
accurate and probably true, isn't your problem a marketing not
technology problem? I still think a survey of potential client would
tell you alot more than any of us could. Someone else commented
about a demo tape, this is a must… An incredible demo tape would do
alot more than any other marketing tool (in my opinion). I wouldn't
waste my time comparing your technology vs. someone elses, if that
really matters to them they'll go out and buy from Industrial Light
and Magic. I would sell your skills first, and sell your service
second. Alot of companies send out work that they are capable of
doing in house, because -it costs less in the long run-. Training
someone to use the system, maintaining the system, fixing the system,
spending the time to stay upto date with upgrades and revisions,
paying overtime for someone to run the long projects, etc. these all
should factor into anyone's estimate for the cost of doing a project
in house. And when compared to the cost of the equipment and
software, a SGI would be cheap… Paul Unterweiser, Unterweiser

I agree with you. But after 10 years as a home improvement
contractor, the perception that your customers feel you totally know
your subject, I emphasize perception, is very important to them. If
in a conversation there are too many I don't knows they can sometimes
decide to find someone who does. I still am trying to find out who
my competition is, but I haven't run into anyone who's doing business
with anybody else. But somebody told me there are a couple high end
work stations running Wavefront. I'm still trying to find out how
much they charge. And I guess trying to get an actual real-world
price out of anyone on this forum is like pulling teeth <g>.
