Hi Sherwood, Seem to have lost the message that had your mailing address. Could you please send it to me along with some info. on what tape output device you are using, and the details of acceptable file formats and CMS tapes. I am currentely working on an animation for an asbestos litigation (using 3DS) and would be interested in utilizing your services. I also recall reading that you were producing a demo tape. Sure would like to see it. I know demo copies tend to cost you some $$$, so if you will send me a copy, I will return it along with a copy of my demo tape. Thanks, Chris Thomas [71031,3133] CAT Designs, Inc. 11985 E. Arizona Dr. Aurora, CO 80012 (303) 750-4753

Hmmmmm…… so, got any Beta-SP ??? Bruce
#9631From: sherwood egbertFeb 22, 1992 1:58 PM
nope this is strickly s-vhs or vhs frame by frame by a panasonic ag7750 industrial quality but not bad at all. but definatly not beta-sp (broadcast). sherwood offered solely for those who need to see it on tape and don't want to spend the bucks on say a mediator (3000) or magni vga producer and so they will see what to expect the first time for free. and next time they will know what there paying for. just a way to let them know its available and to market my services.

Sherwood, I'm really looking forward to seeing your tape. I appreciated your office gif. I'm curious. Was the fire a map? And have you been able to get a fire to look that good in motion? Roger D.
#9777From: sherwood egbertFeb 25, 1992 11:33 AM
the fire is a map yes , but for the actual walk through i used a fli file. the fli was video captured by tips every other frame. for a lenth of 3 seconds total. you will see it in the demo tape. pretty neat to see a fire burning in the fire place as you go through the room. sherwood

You didn't say the T word did you? (Targa)
#9632From: sherwood egbertFeb 22, 1992 2:05 PM
yep sure did … targa rez (756x486x24 or 32 , or any recordable rez) using an atvista 4 meg framebuffer. looks real good on s-vhs 1/2 inch just send them on down on disks or colorado memory systems tape. also will gamma correct the targa's if needed for tape. first time is free, so you can see what your going to get. sherwood
#9636From: MARTIN G FOSTERFeb 22, 1992 8:27 PM
Have you noticed a significant difference between 756x486x24 and 512x486x24? Does the former look sufficiently better to justify the added rendering time and disk space consumed?
#9682From: sherwood egbertFeb 23, 1992 11:14 PM
really depends on what your rendering , i always like to go the highest possible no matter what. but to anwser your question – yes i can tell definatly . but if your doing say a logo thats not really that complicated then i would go for the 756x486x24 and just bump the alias down to medium which is the same as a targa+ 32 or 64 at high alias but takes half the time. i say this because i am going to a ag7750 deck , if i was going to say , a beta-sp you could be more flexable in what rez you do it in. expecially if time is a factor. sherwood

Did you mention you were looking at buying a SONY LVR5000 video disk system. Wow, if you get that then you'll have all the high-end equipment. I haven't bought any video equipment as it's hard enough for me to keep up with my computer equipment needs.

hopefully by the end off next month. will let you know what i think when it gets here. sherwood
