First off, have them verify that Ani-Pro is running the 2.6 release of Phar
Lap. They can do this by typing CFIGPHAR ANI.EXE at the DOS prompt. If
this works (shows v2.6, that is), then they need to remove all memory
managers *except* HIMEM.SYS from their CONFIG.SYS file. Set whatever
environmental variables they need to drive the 1280 (both TIGA and ANI-PRO)
from the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Then start windows in Standard Mode and create
a new PIF file for AAP. Make sure to set min and max amounts of XMS memory
– probably in the 4Mb and 8Mb range. Save the PIF, assign an icon to it,
and let 'er rip.
Now, *I* certainly haven't done this! <Grin> But it should work – if not,
gimme a yell.

AniPro is shipped with PL 2.6, so *that* won't be a problem.
I think the problem is going to be with the drivers for the board. TIGA
loads *on* the board. Now if you have windows running, part of that might
load on the board, and part of the ani driver might want to load on the
board. You can see where this is leading.

I had this same problem – working on it right now. Gotta get SPEA's
updated ANI-PRO drivers, and *perhaps* change from TIGA to a direct Windows
driver.
