I have an application that requires triggering an animation sequence from a remote computer (same location – not modem based). That is, I want to run a schedule on one machine, and call up a particular sequence on a second machine at a preset time. Will Animator Pro's POCO allow me to monitor the serial port? And will it allow me to create a simple command language to implement this scenario? (eg. monitor serial port, wait for "load ABC", "run sequence", "reset" etc.) All I know of Animator Pro and POCO came from a small advertising blurb, so any comments would be much appreciated… (does this sort of thing exist in any current player out there?) Thanks, and cheers! – Ed Blanchard

Try the DOS command CTTY. By typing CTTY COM1: on the remote machine, it'll listen to the com port instead of the keyboard. You should be able to issue player commands from the other computer. I don't know if this'll work – try it and let me know.

Edward, if POCO won't let you monitor the COM port, POE certainly will. All you would need different is a WATCOM compiler. –PhilD [ADESK]
