Actually, it turned out to be $700 for complete system! I've corresponded
via e-mail with someone who's using it, and seemed pretty happy, so I bit
the bullet and put it on plastic. I'll set up MST Unix in about two weeks;
I'll let you know how it works out! We really needed X11 with all the libs,
and real 32-bit programming with an assembler, so coherent and Minix
wouldn't cut it… Harlan Stockman.

Howdy! MST Unix works– I've taken RISC/6000 tar files on floppies,
uncompressed them, tarred, compiled, and run them under X11/Moti f (pardon
the screen screw-up); my favorite is xroach, which makes squishable
cockroaches that run around and hide under your windows. The down side of
MST Unix: no printed manuals!
Now I need some advice on tape backup. Ideally, I'd like to use the same
drive for both DOS and Unix. However, I'm almost completely unfamiliar with
tape drives. I notice most PC users have gone to the smaller cartridges,
while the Unix world uses those big klunky things. I need "QIC
compatibility", whatever that means. Colorado claims its drives are
QIC-compatible, but those drives look physically different than the drives
on the Suns and other RISCs at work (larger tapes). How can I learn about
the available options? I never see articles that explain the differences
