hello again… I just saw an ad in DDJ, #186 Mar 1992, p 15; Consensys (800-387-8951) is selling a complete SVR4 X11r5 developers' kit for $495 (on tape; $575 on floppies)! From the ad, it appears to be nearly identical to MST, except the later X11 release. It looks to me like AT&T has finally released all the binaries for SVR4 at a very low cost, perhaps anticipating Windows NT. In any case, the era of cheap shrink-wrapped Unix may have finally arrived. Since these new SVR4 systems contain C compilers, assemblers, and ALL the libraries (Consensys also supplies Motif), they may br a much better deal than Windows NT… maybe this would be a good subject for an upcoming article in COMP SHOPPER?
