#Configuration Problem

I was hoping that someone could help me with a couple of problems that I am having. My computer is a 386-40 with 4mb ram, 330mb ESDI hard drive, a 1024×768 monitor, and a Paradise 512k 1024 video card. I am running DOS 5.0, QEMM 5.1, AutoCAD version 10c2, on a PowerLAN network. My problems still show up even when I am not on the network. I am using a version 3.1 ADI 800×600 driver from WD Imaging. First AutoCAD gives me the message: General error reading drive D A value (or default) for FCBS= or FILES= in CONFIG.SYS may be to low Abort, Retry? When I Retry, it may repeat the message up to 5 times before proceeding. When it does proceed I get one of two messages: FATAL ERROR: Disk (D:) full Or FATAL ERROR: vs: Can't read string header from string file. AutoCAD cannot continue. But any changes to your drawing made up to the start of the last command can be saved. Do you want to save your changes? <Y> then it kicks me out to the DOS prompt. However, sometimes before booting me out it repeats the message: General error reading drive D A value (or default) for FCBS= or FILES= in CONFIG.SYS may be to low Abort, Retry? These errors occur after making a significant amount of changes to a drawing. If I return to the opening menu about every five minutes, the errors never show up but, this is a real hassle. Somebody please help me. I have listed the contents of my AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS, and my AutoCAD startup batch file, in an accompanying message.

Tim: Looks to me like you have QEMM installed improperly. Ditch it and see if the problem goes away immediately… if it does, then download QINST.DOC from DL6 and read it… My guess is that QEMM isn't aware of what portion of upper ram that your network/and or hard drive is using. Remember, you must access ALL of your computer's components (memory, peripherals, etc.) with ALL of the software that you use in ALL of the practices performed by your software to insure that QEMM's optimize can tell where it needs to stay away from.
