Can anyone recommend anti-virus software to deal with this new MICHAELANGELO virus and any others?

There are many versions of anti-virus software programs about. Just be certain the one you use has the MICHAELANGELO detection. I just used a program from IBM called "Virscan" version 2.1.9 which has included in it the Michaelangelo dectection along with many more virus dectections. Hurry up the clock is ticking!!!! Regards Steve

Kenneth — I've switched to Norton Anti Virus after "playing" with several others… However, given the time frame involved with MichaelAngelo, you may want to think about McAffee's SCAN since it's shareware and available on several BBS's… The primary difference between the tools is how they manage memory checks, and how they manage updates for new virii… What I like about Norton is that they *really* know how to deal with Windows memory paging, and updates are a small file transfer periodically from the Norton BBS or CompuServe's SYMANTEC forum, and you "update" the existing program. Many others, including McAffee, release large program chunks, (in my opinion too often), and it's like you're constantly reloading the program. The upside of course is that if you're willing to check the BBS's weekly, you can stay pretty much ahead of most of the "new" virii… Good Luck — BTW, why are you so concerned about MichaelAngelo ? Do you own a Leading Edge ? — Matt

??? Why is there an update to NAV 2.0 (update 1) specifically including this virus ? I mean, I'm a NAV user & lover (see my earlier message), but I thought this was a new strain we were talking about ? — Matt

I got an ad from Norton regarding Michaelangelo that specifically said the Antivirus program covered it previous to this big stink that's arisen lately. As to the update, I think it's becaise 2.0 can cope with Windows – everyone's fave…. That's all I know, and I'm not about to bet my life that I'm right. Call Symantec and ask them….. They also post updates on their BBS, so, if there were a new Michaelangelo fix, you could probably get it there… DT

There are a couple of anti-virus software packages available FREE OF CHARGE from Symantec and the NCSA BBS. The software package from Symantec is specifically for Michaelangelo. Call 408-973-9598 for 2400 baud or 408-973-9834 for 9600 baud. The NCSA BBS can be reached at 202-364-1304 and use 8/n/1. There are 2 packages available for this virus: SCAN/CLEAN and F-Prot. Good luck to all on the 6th.
