I already had the audio output jacks from my CDROM drive because other
products use them!
In order to add the SoundBlaster Card JUST FOR the Xiphias product, I not
only had to buy some a special connector to bring both inputs into my
stereo, but then I had to buy something else to make this work since the
soundblaster signal is aplified and the CDROM audio signal is not.
I did all this (at a cost of well over $200) because the XIPHIAS product
came with a big red sticker on the box saying that it was REQUIRED. Now I
find out that not only is it not required, it doesn't even work?
Words fail me, but please, whoever is responsible, please take that sticker
off the box.
I'm terribly sorry you were mislead by that sticker. Software Toolworks is
responsible for the distribution. Does your version of the product actually
use the cd-audio? If so, please let both me and Software Toolworks know.
There are other cd rom products that require the soundblaster. It is part
of the MPC standard, if that is any consolation.
The two new TimeTable titles are pure cd-audio. They are also distributed
by Compton's New Media instead of Software Toolworks.

I haven't been able to find any articles in my Time Table of History,
Science & Innovation which produce CD audio.
I am sure that my CD audio is hooked up properly, because it works
beautifully with my Multimedia Audubon's Birds and Multimedia Audubon's
Mammals.
Do you know of an article in Science & Innovation which is supposed to
generate sound so I could be sure that things are not working as the box
describes? Even the disk itself says "Information, software and
AUDIO-visual presentation, copyright (c)1987-1991 by Xiphias.
i had the same problem and it turned out that for some reason, my cdrom
player had reset to 0 volume ( it was the Science and Innovaton disk's
fault ). So make sure you have in your autoexec.bat a line that turns the
cd volume up and then try it, ok?! Hope it works…btw, I have National
Geographic mammals…is it better or worse than Audobans? And on that note,
I can't get my audio to work correctly with Mammals (my version). Any
ideas?!
Try the HELP button on the top menu (or leave the top menu alone for a few
minutes). You should see a slide show of various screens and hear the
audio. If you dont hear any audio, check the date on the ttsi.exe file on
the cd. If it is before September '91 you probably have a sound blaster
version of the product. Call Xiphias (301) 841-2790.
