Say It Aint So! I just got another unwanted copy of compuke magazine and
noticed that they are saying that C= has been sold to none other than
Playskool. Is this good news or does it mean that the serious side of the
amiga is about to come to an end? What will happen to Unix? Is the $4500
that I have in my 3000 an investment in that the last serious Amiga
computer?
Is this old news, or maybe false news?

Well, if Playskool provides the funding and the marketing for the Amiga,
we couldn't be worse off than we are now. Can you see computer geeks
talking: Geek 1: I have an Apple Macintosh IIcx. What do you have?
Geek 2: I have a Playskool Amiga with 2MB RAM and an 80MB hard disk.

As an owner of two Amigas, I don't appreciate that kind of humor coming
from ANY magazine.
When the clocks that looked like altimeters became popular, an irrate
reader wrote to Aviation safety to call for an FAA ruling banning the sale
of the clocks. Rationale: pilots would get used to the 12 digit faces
instead of the ten digit faces and when in the cockpit would misinterpret
the altimeter thus colliding with mountains and tall buildings.
The clocks are still very popular in aviation circles. The NTSB has yet
to find them a significant factor in any accident or incident to date.
Moral: there is always a group of dour sour pusses ready to get irrate at
any form of humor, amusement or frivolousness.
Message: lighten up, guys. The economy stinks, the country will probably
break up like the soviet union after this election, so a little Amiga humor
should be smiled at. Save the rage for earth order problems – or at least
CBM marketting – or perhaps THATS the kind of humor you DO appreciate!

You're wrong, Steve. Inserting Amiga editions into about 30,000 magazines
is a lot cheaper than inserting those pages into 350,000 magazines. That's
over a _million_ pieces of paper that don't have to be printed–it's a lot
cheaper.
(I'm not saying I agree that the Amiga edition should be separate, but I do
understand the economics of the decision.)
Saves trees, too. Sorta. You might want to count the extra pages the
Amiga owners get as wasted… I bet not too many wanna hear about
Lobus 1-few-freak, the new speadsheet for Mentally-Scrambled-DOS.

Well, a large percentage of Amiga people are forced to use PCs at
work, so any info on making using them more bearable is welcomed b a
lot of our readers…
