If the next Amiga multitasks Windows NT with AmigaDOS, why, I'll eat a Bill & Melinda Gates wedding picture. The head of Commodore UK is either incredibly technically uninformed, being fed misinformation by his subordinates, or he just likes having fun with the press. I've seen some really wacky claims from him that nobody in Commodore's development department seems to know anything about… I can see Commodore releasing an Amiga that runs NT and/or AmigaDOS, but I doubt you'll see them running together.

OK, I'm not going to hold my breath… (Ah, there goes my fun). But it would be really fun to see that actually happening. It would have given me tons of nerdy pleasures showing it around (as I do now with the Emplant). By the way, since you are Denny Atkin, could you tell me what you had in mind when you mentioned a program that enables 60ns access on the A4000? Has it appeared yet? The thing is mentioned in your book, "Best Amiga Tips and Secrets" p.189. ———————————- Hiroo YAMAGATA 74500,1126, logging on as myself this time

Hiroo, Sure! Commodore never released a program to enable the 60ns access mode, but someone else did. SpeedRamsey 1.2a by Holger Lubitz will enable the 60ns access mode in the A4000, giving you a nice little speedup. Note, though, that this REALLY does require 60ns RAMs. I tried it in my A4000 with just 70ns RAMs in it, and it worked for a while — and benchmarked quicker (can't remember exactly how fast) — but it would eventually crash with a red screen. Hope you liked the book!

YES!! I liked your book very much! Since I'm still an Amiga novice, your book really taught me a lot of tricks. Thanks. I really liked the bit about squeezing the cheeze out. Although I still wonder sometimes whether that was a metaphoric reference to some forbidden trick on the Amiga… naw, probably not. Or is it? ———————————- Hiroo YAMAGATA
