I have an IBM computer. I would like to view amiga files that end with .lha
on my
computer. Is this possible? If it is, could you please tell me the steps or
the program that I use.
Thanks in advance for all of your help and your time.
Jim
Jim,
There is an LHARC program for the IBM computers that is compatible with
our LHA files. Just get the latest one from IBMCOM, download our files,
and unpack them using that LHARC. If you have a viewer that can read the
Amiga graphic files (such as GIF files), you can use your regular viewers
to display them. Some of ours are in formats that have to be converted
before you can display them on the IBM. HIJAAK is usually recommended for
making the conversions.

Jim,
LHA (LhARC)is not an image format, but rather a compression format, like
.ZIP. There are several msdos versions of LHA available in the various
fora here on CIS… download one of those to unpack the .LHA archives you
want.
Amiga images here in the Amiga Fora can be in any of several different
formats such as: IFF, IFF24, GIF, JPEG, HAM, etc… you will need a msdos
or windows VIEWER program that supports these modes to be able to view
these images. GO GRAPHICS to look for msdos viewers or use the IBM File
Finder (GO IBMFF).

LHA is a free archiver (this version for MS-DOS), creating and
unpacking
LZH archive files. LHA replaces LHArc 1.xx. This is a self-extracting
archive.
Happy hunting! I haven't tried this particular file but it appears to
be the latest version for IBM clones to run.
