Jim, Thank you for the reply**always nice to know someone is there to talk to. About this DPS personal component adaptor card***is this a worthwhile 'mini' investment and how difficult is this to install? What exactly do you do– video, animations, etc.? Thanks for your time. Denise

Denise, The DPS card installs in one of the Amiga slots, and has two ribbon cables that drape over the Disk bay area and connect to the Toaster board directly. Don't worry, there are diagrams showing exactly how. The DPS PCA will accept up to three S-Video inputs corresponding to Toaster Input channels 1-3 and will output TWO S-Video Program outputs, These inputs and outputs are all on the back of the DPS board, no connections need be made to the Toaster at all. You can mix and match however, by setting DIP switches on the PCA configure any input to S-Video or Composite. If you want composite you just plug into the Toaster. The Composite program and Preview outs are also still available on the Toaster board in unison with the 2 S-Vid program outs on the PCA. So it's very handy as a S-Video Video DA.\ I've got two 1970's and an AG455, I control them and the Toaster with a MS-DOS machine running TAO Editizer. And I know what you mean about 3rd generation loss in dubbing. Don't expect miracles from the PCA, but I feel it was well worth 425 to me for that extra little bit of clarity. I do mainly Industrial Sales and Training Videos. Usually involving Lightwave animated logo Treatments which I bring to life with DCTV encoded animations. Very powerfull stuff for the budget minded videographer. Later, Jim Broek Providence Video Productions 1518 N. Elm St. Escondido, CA 92026

Jim, So with the DPS card, You have to open the case and flip jumpers/switchers to make input 1 switch between using Composite and S-Video ?. Yuk, glad I found that out before buying it… Brian

Brian, Well, yes you do need to alter the jumper on the PCA board to alternate channel 1 input S-Video, However, You can have the channels set in any combination you want, i.e. 2 Composite & 2 S-Video and if you do need to input a composite source just use another input. You really only need to set the jumpers once when you install the board and it's not difficult at all. Later, Jim

Without going into details, it is still a crummy design to have to open the case to do this. This assumes a totally static environment, which most desktop users may or may not have, I sure don't. I would have thought that they learned their lesson after the way you had to do it on the DPS TBC version 1 to switch between composite and S-video inputs. BTW, I still haven't had anyone make any sense out of this input conversion stuff anyway… Why would you want to add another device in the chain of inputs to do S-video to composite instead of letting your TBC's circuits handle it ? Anyone can take a shot at me on this one. Thanks for the info on the DPS card, Jim. Brian

DPS TBC IV BOARD. You open the case to install your new boards. At that time you connect your jumpers and close your case. Then you simply use the software to switch between composite and S-video by clicking on a icon. Piece of cake. Dusty Powers

We're talking about the DPS PCA card (composite<->Y/C). Are the composite and Y/C OUTPUTS simultaneously available on the TBCiv ???? Brian

Only the input must be switched via software. I use it for Y/C in and composite out. For the absolute answer, I suggest calling DPS. They are very friendly and helpful people. What is the PCA card? Jim The PCA card (Personal Component Adaptor) is basically the same as the Y/C Plus and the Y/C ++. They allow your Toaster to accept S-Video inputs and output S-Video also. Later, Jim
