3DS problem

I am having a strange problem with 3DS r3, which I know there is an obvious
answer for. I rendered a scene with no problems a few times. And then all of
a sudden, it seems, the rendered image is a complete black screen. This happens
on all rendering modes (Flat, Phong, etc).
Any ideas?

Tell me more! Did you save the file as a mesh (not PRJ), exit 3ds and
try it again? Maybe something else? What hardware are you using?
I get the same problem as Chris Y. I think it has to do with R3 not freeing
memory nicely. I render a bunch of scenes, and after a certain point, I am
using all the memory available and flic files will no longer play. I just
get
a black screen.

Hey Greg, what's up?
This system is at school. They just got two systems for us — 486-66
with 16mb RAM. The graphics card is great — it's a Matrox something
or other. It allows you to do real time walkthroughs in AutoCAD.
(Were starting to do some real cool stuff at my school with CAD,
finally.)
But back to the problem. What happened exactly was that I imported a
DXF, set everything up, rendered it. After one rendering I get just
a black screen (in all rendering modes). When I watch it render, the
first pass appears on the screen, but when it goes to correct colors
and display the second pass I get black.
I've saved the file both as a PRJ and a 3DS file and I get the same
problem when recalling up either format.

Seriously, After you exhaust the software sleuthing you might check
for an intermittant video cable connection. Now don't laugh but that
actually happened to me while I had a customer watching and he waited
while I went through all sorts of checking out the software. I
discovered the bad BNC fitting about 15 minutes later. Kind of
embarrasing.
