Bill, it only makes sense that anyone who has an ARexx product would want
to promote ARexx, it's very purpose is connectivity, and anything helps.
From this perspective, Charlie isn't being altruistic, he's being
competitive, and should be commended for that. But if you want to start
trouble, ask why CED doesn't have an ARexx demo on disk, but TxEd does.

Well, which is it now, am I being altruistic, or competitive? I'm always
amused by your observations, John. D'ja think it's possible I'm both
altruistic *and* competitive? Or perhaps that I could care less about
either? Nah, it's gotta be one or the other.
Good question, huh? I don't know of any companies that survive based on
altruism. It was someone else in the thread who accused/ complimented you
on being altruistic, and I defended you.
Call it a new marketing gimmic, altruism. People stop and stare because
it's so unexpected. Competitors get all excited because they can't figure
out where you're coming from.
You're right though, I'm quite competitive when challenged, and quite good
as a gamesman when evaluating likely outcomes of various choices. I'm just
not particularly motivated by $$$, as long as I've got enough to pay the
bills and we've got enough to fund the projects we want to work on. This
puts Microsmiths at a competitive advantage because it means we can work on
projects which other companies might reject as being too risky
financially. Beats the heck out of losing sleep while working on projects
whose 1'st priority is the bottom line. Chas
