Here is a comparison of Amiga MSBasic to a few other well-known systems. The benchmark is a floating-point/looping benchmark from the March 1983 "Color Computews" (timings for non-Amigas from the same source). System — #iterations completed in 30 seconds Amiga (1-precision) 596 (2-precision) 477 Apple II+ 114 Atari 800 49 Commodore 64 103 Cromemco Z2 (Z80) 97 IBM PC 170 BASIC09 (2 MHz 6809, pseudo-compiled) 500 Tektronix 4054 520 Tandy Color Comp (.9 MHz) 87 (1.8 MHz) 176 ===================================== I suspect the Amiga looks particularly good since this is a floating point benchmark — the FP routines seem to be really fast.
