Bela, since I know one of your favorite subjects is monitors… I'd like to
know if you have seen an Amiga hooked up to a NEC "MultiSync"? I have a
customer/friend that wants a better monitor for his Amiga, and has seen the
NEC hooked to a "juiced-up" PC. He thinks it is great but thought the colors
were a bit washed-out. If you or anyone else can give a comparison on the
NEC vs. SONY CPD1201 or just any information about the quality of these
tubes, I'd be most grateful. Thanks, – Doug
I haven't seen the NEC MultiSync. I've heard many good things about it, and a
few bad. Someone told me they tried one with their Amiga and it did work —
which is not surprising, given that the MultiSync is supposed to be able to
adapt to a wide range of inputs.
I suspect that the Sony CPD1201 will give a clearer, sharper picture than the
MultiSync, by virtue of its extremely fine dot pitch. As to color appearance
and saturation (and whatever)… beats me! I've seen a 1201 and it's >nice<…
One overriding consideration would be if the monitor is also to be used with a
PC system with an EGA type display card. Of the two, only the MultiSync will
work both with the Amiga and the EGA (in its high resolution mode — the only
real justification for getting an EGA). – Bela
