I am creating an architectural model from an old blueprint. Features
on the drawing are sort of randomly dimensioned relative to
eachother–i.e., there is no single handy "origin."
Working in the 3D Editor (the basic walls are all up) what I would
like be able to do is define a local coordinate system–for example,
place (0,0,0) in the corner of a particular room and create details
for that room relative to it (as they are dimensioned on this
drawing).
It seems to me that neither the Display/Const nor the Modify/Axis are
of any help in this. I guess I could move the entire model to put
the corner point at the global origin, but that somehow seems sorta
unwieldy. Am I missing something? (BTW, I need to do this in
3DS–ACAD isn't an option).
