I'm considering purchasing a *used* copy of 3D Studio. I called
Autodesk and asked how to go about transferring the licence from the
previous owner to me. The person from Autodesk told me they needed a
letter form the previous owner and 1500 dollars from me!
Expressing my disbelief, the Autodesk person said that this was a
kind of tax intended to hinder sale of used copies. It has nothing to
do with the cost of reregistering the software. If I did not pay they
would refuse to upgrade. What are these Autodesk people? The mafia?
I can't believe that Autodesk can legally tax the sale of a used copy
of 3DS. Can anyone confirm that this is really the case?
