I was wondering if you had found any "resonably priced" HDTV compatible front
projectors. I have been thinking of replacing my Mitsubish 35" in my system.
I may have a hard time justifing any major purchases in the near future, but I
can hope. The 20k+ that I spent on my current system was spent before the
wedding. <g>
I haven't even heard of a HDTV compatible projector. What I have been looking
around has a Faroudja line doubler but the max output is 800×600 (HDTV is
closer to 1,900×1024). This unit costs around 20k. I can't even imagine what an
HDTV compatible projector would cost.
I have seen 16 X 9 format direct view TVs that are supposed to be compatable
with HDTV. I don't don't know how, because the HDTV standards are only now
being set. I thought that I had seen information on a HDTV compatible
projection system. Maybe I am mistaken. It's irrelevant for me at this time,
but maybe next year.

The "wide format" NTSC TVs being sold here are designed for letterbox viewing
and are not compatible with any HDTV standards. Whereas the conventional TV's
have a black band top and bottom on letterbox programs these sets are
switchable and but put a black band left and right for 3/4 NTSC. In my opinion
it's just a gimmick.
Do you mean monitor of projector?
If you mean projector, then I can help you. I have created animation for a
HDTV laser projector that projected a 50 foot image with infinate focus onto a
water screen for Abbu Dabbi last year. A petol tanker full of water was used
to cool it! I'll tell you more if you'd like to know…
