Hello, GVP: A few months ago I purchased a GVP 33MHz 040 accellerator (a "GFORCE", I think it is called). It was one of the 040's that had "perfect with the Video Toaster" on the box. Well, not quite perfect so far in my case. With 12MB memory on board I am as yet unable to run the Toaster with the command GVPCPUCrtl MoveSSP FASTROM in my user-startup file. Using this causes either an immediate crash or one within a few seconds after starting the Toaster switcher. The show-stopper is the FASTROM statement. With it removed, the Toaster will run. Among the many "suggestions" that I have received from the Toaster-heads on the nets, was one to use the sequence: cpu nocache noburst nocopyback GVPCPUCrtl MoveSSP FASTROM cpu cache burst copyback arp040fix in the user- startup file. The message also stated that unless I had FULLY populated the board with memory, FASTROM, burst, copyback, etc, etc., would NOT work… PLEASE, PLEASE tell me what is the straight story here??? Arrrghhhhhhh!!! Luke Montgomery CompVid Video Graphics Services Compuserve: 70274,21787 Internet: compvid@tyrell.net Voice: (913)764-3463

Luke, The CPU lines are correct. Some A2000 motherboard will experience timing problems when remapping the Kickstart ROM with the caches on. I'm not sure what the ARP040FIX line is all about. As for being FULLY POPULATED, the BOARD will only support BURST mode when fully populated. Your caches will always work and turning on burst in SOFTWARE without the board being fully populated will make no difference. Hope this clears things up. GVP TECH
