I have heard the same thing. The offer of a refund is, of course, the right and
proper thing to do but I like most will wait for the program, since that is why
I sent in the dollars to begin with. I guess that software companies and the
mags. will continue to sell software "before its time" as long as we the
consumer put up with it. I still fault the mags more then the software
producers.
Another thing to remember about magazines is a little devil called "lead time".
For a magazine you got in you mailbox yesterday (for example), SoftLogik might
have had to place the ad in September. It's entirely possible that they
_thought_ back then they'd have the program done by now, but in the meantime
have run into snags that held them back; as a programmer by profession myself,
I can tell you that those things happen much more often than anyone likes. I
have the ST version of PageStream (my 2000 is a recent acquisition), and though
there are still some bugs, it is a _very_ powerful program. The newest version
is due very shortly and fixes most of the current problems, as well as adding
some features. As for the Amiga version, your patience will be _greatly_
rewarded when you do receive it.
s for the information. I understand that they had some problems with bugs and
delays. I have seen some printouts from the ST version and I can hardly wait to
get the Amiga version. But I still say a year is a bit long to run ads before
the product is ready. Some ads say something like "To Start Shipping in
December 88" or something like that so that the buyer knows upfront that the
product may not be ready yet. I think that is the best way to go. Thanks again
for your insight.
Calvin,
I too sent in my money many months ago (June). I don't think they shipped
on Dec. 26 as I have not yet received it. I have gotten 4-5 postcards with
various inaccurate excuses. They cashed the check in Sept. I DO know that
they are acually issuing refunds to people that ask for them. For a chance to
see actual messages from Softlogik sign on to Genie and type Softlogik; they
have a support forum (roundtable) that mostly consists of complaints and
excuses. I am told it will be worth the wait. Oh well, It was only $55.

Mark, I wish they had a support forum here so that we would have more up to
date info on release dates and delays. Like you, I understand it will be worth
the wait. Its got to be better then PageSetter!
Calvin,
Haha; they probably can't afford it (a forum on CI$). The ad for Pagestream
in AW Feb shows some output which looks pretty good. My Deskjet is just
waiting to spit out some decent looking stuff. I check Genie every few days
for the latest bitches about the continuing delays. In the meantime there is
supposedly a Utility that will print postscript files on a non-postscript
printer such as an HP laser, Deskjet or even DMP printers. The ad is in Feb AW
near the back and the product is PK9tscript by Pixelation. They have a acct.
on CI$ but haven't answered my email yet. No price or availability is stated in
the ad.

Mark,
PrintScript is due in early February, depending on printing schedules. I've
been on the receiving end of "Real Soon Now" too many times myself, so we won't
announce and slip, slip, slip. I'll send you EMAIL when we are shipping.
The price will be $89.
