#No Amiga Monitors
6 messages in this thread
I've found myself to be remarkably forgiving of Commodore until
lately. Mainly….
DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THE STORY IS ON THE 1942 MONITORS for
the Amiga 4000?
I'd been putting off on buying a 4000 until now. I'd been waiting for
some of the software to mature. AnimWorkshop Ver. 2 from Axiom
Software has arrived and provides a more than adequate replacement
for The Director (at least for me…) and now I've now found myself
lusting after a 4000.
There's just one problem. Nobody has any 1942 monitors. The only
options appear to be the older style 1084 monitors, which have
flicker and limit your A4000 modes or the super-expensive third party
monitors, which, though beautiful, etc., are more than I want to
spend on a monitor.
1942's are "on backorder" and sound like they will be on backorder for
some time to come.
So….I've put off my 4000 purchase. Why buy a great machine if I
can't have the right monitor?
AAAArgh! This is so frustrating! Does anybody have any inside info
on this problem?
Hai Steve, Though i've no idea where you live, i can just say there's
enough advertisement for the a1942 here in the Netherlands. As i want
to buy one A1942 for both my A1200 and my portable PC, i'll check
around here whether there's a problem. I'll also ask a collequa of
mine who has a lot of inside information.
I hate to dampen your spirits even more, but…1084s are just as hard
to find as 1942s. 🙂 I (and I work for a dealer) haven't seen
either since last year. Right now, we sell Idek 17" multiscans for
Toaster systems. (Heck, I can't get A1200s either!)
Steven,
I can answer this one for you.
Commodore has ordered more 1942 monitors from the company that makes
them. You should see them really appear in the next 4 weeks or so.
Steve,
What about IDEK monitors? Perhaps not as cheap as the 1942, but more flexible,
and here today.
Jonathan
Mine was on backorder for about 6 weeks, but I got it about 3 weeks ago,
and it's working fine….
