What are your intentions for the sound efffects? You might want to try a PD program in DL 15 called DRW, it can produce some interesting sounds but it takes a while. Its rather interesting, you draw a picture, and, depending upon the color, line thickness, etc., it produces sounds-most of them pretty srange.

Barry: I would like to produce sound effects such as car engines, sirens, machine guns, wind, ocean waves, etc. as well as "electronic" sounds such as spaceships, aliens, phasors, etc. Several people have mentioned using Sonix or Synthia. I have read about these programs and they seem to be geared towards composing music rather than general-purpose sounds. Unfortunately, my nearest Amiga dealer is a 2 hour drive away, so getting a demonstration (even if the programs are in stock) is a hassel. I have a General Instruments AY8910 sound generator chip in my aging Heathkit H8. It has two tone channels and a noise channel. You can control frequency, amplitude and envelope, and therefore make a variety of interesting sounds. I would think that there is something like that around for the Amiga. Any suggestions you or anyone else can make would be appreciated. -+WMS3+appreciated. -+WMS3+-
