Well Larry, it isn't. But, IEEE-959 WAS developed by Intel and therefore has a lot of Intellisms in its design and operation. One of the jobs that Twin-X performs is the conversion of Motorola style signals and timing into/from Intel style signals and timing. Having Intel style timing and signals is actually an advantage to some small degree since many chips are designed for the Intel environment. When using these chips on Twin-X little or no interfacing is needed on the module itself (since the module thinks its talking directly to an Intel processor). So, no, Twin-X is not an AT or XT bus. Electrically they're similar only in that they are both Intel oriented architectures. But that's basically the extent of their similarities. So, Larr, got any new application ideas? Wasn't there a group who wanted to do laser animation with the Amiga? That'd be easy with Twin-X. Or what about a point of sale ECR and Inventory system with bar code readers and touch screens? This product more so than any other on the Amiga market is exactly that which the developer community chooses to make it. It's been said before that the Amiga would make some people rich (hasn't happened here yet 🙂 but Twin-X and the Amiga can certainly make a whole lot more people rich (hasn't happened here yet 🙂 :-).

Than am I safe in assuming it will be somewhat like Multibus? What are the physical pin configurations? The reason I am asking is that I would want to know what sort of cost I could expect per module, and I think many of the possible bus configurations would take only very expensive modules. (I am thinking specifically of VMEBus and the like). Frankly, I've never heard of RS959, and have never seen anything advertised for it.
