#Building in Lightwave

I've been using the Toaster 4000 with Ami-Link since early December. I've
learned a lot already but I find that everyday is a learning experience. I
guess it's going to be that way for quite a while. I was recently in Modeler
trying to build a set of French doors. I figured this should be easy… just
buils an extruded rectangle and cut 8 squares into it. I couldn't figure it
out.
I'm stuck here at home now with about an inch of ice outside so I can't go
into work to play around with it.
The problem is, once I created the extruded door, I couldn't fidgure out
how to cut holes in it.. Should I cut the holes first, then extrude it, and
finnaly create another rectangle slightly smaller than the door for the glass?
Someone told me it would take Boolean functions to do something like that. Is
that true?

Take a look at page 49 of the modeler doc (Tools Menu – drills and
booleans) The exact one you pick (template or solid drill) probably would
depend on how much detail you want in the mutons.
Actually, I think a French Door would be a good tutorial to add to the
toaster manual to give some idea on these tools. Course there is the hard
way: model each peice (uprights, cross bucks, mutons, panes, hinges,
handles….) and piece them all together in layers or in the layout.
