Why not have lighting setups in terms of candlepower or lumens? I have heard from some users creating set designs and they could really use this type of info. Also, please fix the scaling arrows for the mapping icon. I always get confused when the icon is rotated and the arrows are horizontal and the map scales from top to bottom! The other editor scaling functions do not do this, so wouldn't it be natural to keep the scaling adjustments similar? P.S. you might consider creating a lightmeter ipas that would help in adjusting multiple lights in a scene to prevent washing everything out. Hey you could even have interactive lighting just like in the materials editor. SGI eat your heart out.

Chris, the mapping icon is _supposed_ to work that way. It carries its own transformation matrix, so no matter how you rotate it, it will be transormed according to _its own_ coordinate system. – G

I didn't catch all of this but this just reminded me of what a client once asked me about lighting. He wanted to know if there was a routine he could use in 3D Studio that would give him "real-world" results as far a LUX Rateing or whatever it is they use to measure light in different areas. His particular application was designing a rather large outside parking area and he needed to calculate the number of light poles and lights and their Wattage's as well as show graphically what the parking lot would actually look like at night. That way his client could figure the differences and trade offs on his cost vs safety factors while getting a resonable graphical image to look at. Anyway….This just happened to jump to mind when I saw the "Lightmeter IPAS" in this message. Any comments? Murph'
