Greg, Hi there. How are thungs in CA? I am buying a Diaquest serial controller, because I found a place that will rent decks to me for a fairly good price. What I am wondering is how do you go about determining the field order for particular equipment? Or is this something I just need to figure out. I am probably going to be renting a SVHS deck to start with – JVC. I want to make a demo tape and send out some VHS demos. Would this be a good format to start with? Any help you could give would be appreciated. Thanks Dave Mennenoh 71561,2343

Dave, <<I'm probably going to be renting a SVHS deck – JVC>> If you're going to be outputtingto industrial grade equipment, I'd definitely recommend Panasonic AG7750 over anything from JVC. Last summer I had a terrible experience with a BRS 822U which wouldn't record anything even equaling VHS. Or possibly in Hi8, EVO 9650. I've got one and my personal opinion is that it's a little bit better than an SVHS, although the format gods are probably going to strike me dead on that one <g>. Good luck. Roger D.

Dave: CA is wet! Much more so this year than the last eight! And I thought I moved out here to get away from all this… Field order just depends on the hardware/video equipment, and testing seems like the best way now to find out… Actually, maybe there is another way – If everyone who reads this and does single frame animation with fields could please reply to me with the computer hardware, video equipment and field order that works, I will compile the list and post it back up here. Please send in this format: frame buffer video hardware field order Truevision AT-Vista Sony LVR-5000a 1 Thanks in advance, Greg Pyros

Greg: I was so mad that our CBS station carried a local sporting event and not Noah's Ark. They also did not carry the first 30 minutes of the Daytona 500, I think I'm going to quit watching that station!! Thanks for taking so much of your time to help others. To render to fields with my system the settings are: Truevision Targa +16/32 Panasonic AG7750 Field = 1 Regards……….Rick (Technical Animations)
