David, Just finished a review of color printers for Amiga World, and unfortunately I know of no one printer that will meet all your requirements. The closest might be the HP-1200 (did not test this one; couldn't get 'em to lend us one). Color & 600×300 dpi (I think). Supposed to be a new version of the 550, called the 560 with same dpi. Hp 550 will handle up to 36 lb. stocks, so 560 and 1200 probably will too. By the way, take dpi ratings with grain of salt when it comes to color. The dither you use and therefore the number of colors you print in will change that resolution. rule of thumb: more colors you want to print, the lower the effective resolution. Hope that helps Gary on AutoPilot from Charlotte, NC

Thanks Gary! I appreciate the reply…. Fortunately, I have a well-stocked CompUSA nearby that has the HP550C, HP1200, and Cannon BubbleJet. (Probably my top choices at the moment…) The specs say the HP550C and HP1200 both give the same color resolution at about 300 DPI, with the HP1200 having the capability to give 600×300 in B&W (if I remember correctly)… In comparison, the specs that I remember on the Cannon BJ gives about 360 DPI in color, and the graphic example I have does show a better color picture than the HP models above IMHO… But, one of the local salesmen tell me that the Cannon BJ has a tendency to bleed through the paper. As an example of the difference, I remember comparing cyan on the HP550C and the Cannon BJ… The HP had little white "lines" running through cyan, where the Cannon BJ printed off a nice, crisp fully flush color. I'm still undecided, and plan to visit a larger store that is about 45 miles from here. Thanks again, – Dave
