"I have a A2000 with a GVP 2000hc controller and a quantum lps 50mb drive. I am trying to add a Fujitsu 1gb drive to the chain, and I can't get the card to recognize that the drive is there. I have tried to reconfigure the drives physically, putting the fujitsu on the card. I have tried different scsi id's, removing the terminators on the fujitsu drive, but no avail. when I tried to remove the terminaators on the quantum drive, I got a nice animation asking for a boot disk. Please help." Spencer, You did not mention what version of the autoboot ROM is present on the GVP controller. Actually, you didn't specify WHICH GVP controller this is. I _assume_ that it is a SERIES II controller. If not, please specify EXACTLY what it is. Assuming that it IS a Series II controller, it sounds like you have autoboot ROM version 3.07 on it. This has a flag called LAST DISK that can be used to speed up the boot process by preventing the SCSI driver from looking for more SCSI devices after SCSI ID 0. The drive on the card normally is SCSI ID 0; if the LAST DISK flag is set, then the SCSI driver won't look for any other hard drives connected to the controller. To fix this, run FAAASTPREP and go to Manual Installation mode. You will see the information for the drive at SCSI ID 0. In the upper right are four circles that can be checked on or off. One of these is called LAST DISK. Click on the circle so that the checkmark disappears. Then hit the button called "WRITE" to save this change to the hard drive. Once is has been written, reboot the machine for the change to take effect. If this is NOT the problem, you must give us a complete description of what's in your system, and please specify EXACTLY what GVP card this is and what version of the autoboot ROM is on it. Thanks.
