Two HD's Same DH #'s

I have replaced my 105 meg Quantum drive w/ a Maxtor 345. I would like to
reinstall the Quantum with a new device # on the same controller. How may I
deal with having dh0: thru dh3: on two hard drives without reformatting and
losing what is stored there? Thanks in advance!
That wouldn't be that tough. Which type of SCSI adapter do you have? It
certainly came with some software for setting volume names, in the "rigid disk
block (RDB)". I'd suggest the easiest method: re-install a fresh Workbench on
your new drive. Then change the drive ID on the switches on the Quantum to an
unused ID, and add it to the SCSI cable. (Assuming your SCSI cable has an
extra connector on it.) Then re-boot, it should re-boot on the new drive, then
mount the old drive and the old volumes. After this, you might want to reset
some of the RDB info on the old drive, such as making sure none of those drives
are set to boot.
If you're the least bit hesitant about this, you can ask more questions here,
and I'm sure several of us can walk you through the process.
