David: Probably your best bet is to purchase a Parallel I/O card for the
Golden Gate, and it will probably work fine. Although using the Amiga's
parallel port on the PC side with the GoldenGate is OK if your just using
it for printing, but for uses such as dongles or parallel port tape drives
then the seperate card might be the only choice.

I did get a parallel port I/O card for the Golden Gate and it looks like it
works just fine…
Also took another look at the manual, and sure enough – on page 22-23, it
suggests getting a card (for weird things like dongles).
So, when all else fails, I suppose I should have read the manual before
posting!
