Folks, I've got a couple of questions that I would like to put in the 3D Studio Newsletter (I'm still waiting for Autodesk to get back to me on its approval). 1) For a simple animation setup with 2 or 3 486s, what are the best choices for a cost-effective network targeted specifically for 3DS? 2) I'm writing a review of the Matrox Illuminator Pro. Do you have any pros or cons? When used with 3DS, what is the optimal configuration, ie. 2 monitors with one that is NTSC, etc. What software products work well with the board? Anyone having experience with the board will be helpful. Thanks. -Gregory MacNicol

I have used the Matrox Illuminator boards since 3DS r1 (Ill-16 then Pro) I have a lot of experience with them. 1. 2 Monitors is a must. 2. On the NTSC, you should monitor the YC as well as RGB outputs. There are also some timimg tricks when recording to a PVW-2800. (Use 2FD framing, use the composite out as ref sync, YC as Video) Love the board, lots of fun to play with. Jim Pope

1) Lantastic 5.0works decent for a 2-3 machine set-up, but is probably not really robust enough for over 5 machines. -Alan

"(I'm still waiting for Autodesk to get back to me on its approval)." Newsletter? Sounds good! What are we approving? Anything I can do to say YES?! Nik
