#Dynamic Morphing Program
9 messages in this thread
Hi out there, long time no read………..
Anyway, is anybody familiar with a PC program that does dynamic morphing of
targa files? For example, Gryphon's Morph only does static morphs – one start
TGA morphed to another TGA. I'm looking for something that will morph between
two series of sequential TGA's. Sort of like the morphing software ASDG wrote
for the SGI. As you can guess, this is to morph video – as in turning humans in
werewolves (without the canine steriods 😉 ).
Thanks in advance for any leads or info

I have both Griffon Morph and HSC Morph and you're right. For about the same $
HSC does sequential TGA's morph to sequential TGA's. A better buy all around.
I use it all the time. It will also do flc's but I haven't tried it out.
Winimages/morph by Blackbelt will also do full motion morphs between two
sequences.
David
Martin – Another option is WinImages Morph by Blackbelt systems, it'll do
Targa's or a variety of other file formats, and the images do not have to be in
the same resolution or file type. It works quite well and supports Alpha which
is a big plus as you can morph say a plane into a balloon and then composite it
over a sky, thereby not having the sky tear during the morph sequence.

Wow, that sounds great. I need to get this! Where did you get your copy? Have
you seen Winimages: FX? Do you have an address or phone # for Blackbelt?
Thanks,
Jim
Yes sir, I've got both and they work very well. Understanding Morph is
initially not very intuitive if you haven't worked with a morphing package
before, but once you understand the logic, its very powerful and suprisingly
easy to use. Its up to professional standards, especially with regard to final
output. Their tech support is also good. I would recommend if you decide to
order it, just playing with the examples and then when you've gone as far as
you can, give them a call again. It took one call and all the pieces fell into
place. They also number frames like 3DS, unlike the HSC package. The FX package
is really quite amazing. Its really easy to get totally engrossed for hours in
both programs.
You can call direct at 1-800-852-6442.
David Stinnett also has the programs, so you might want to contact him for his
thoughts also.

Thanks for your reply. I called Blackbelt, who recommended Micro Warehouse for
purchase. The lady at Blackbelt said it was $100 for both Morph and FX combined.
I really wasn't ready to buy, but that put me over the edge. You ought to be
in sales!

I've played with it and it seemed fairly easy to me. Put down control points,
connect with lines, adjust target points. But I don't remember anything about
dynamic morphs, which is really where I want to go. Your comments made me
think it would be ideal for that.

In terms of morph quality? What did the others not do as well in terms of Morph
image quality?

What was your sticking point on it, if I may ask?

I think it's great that they are bundled for such a great price. Have you found
any use for FX outside of noodling? Is it good for video output type stuff?
Also, do you have any tips for shooting raw footage for dynamic morphs? I'm
about to go do some demo work and I'd like to showcase this.
Thanks again,
Jim
I believe Blackbelt's WinImages Morph will do dynamic morphing.
