#PrintScript

Here's a brief description of PrintScript. I hope it answers most of the
questions you have- any others can be posted here, or emailed to me. I'll
answer them as promptly as I can!
PrintScript allows you to print PostScript files on a non-PostScript laser, ink
jet, or dot-matrix printer. Using it you can get output from these that really
uses the full resolution of the printer, rather than a faithful rendition of
the cruder resolution of the screen. We support most printers through the
Preferences drivers, but have written specific drivers for the HP Laserjet and
Deskjet, since those drivers do form-feeds when we don't want them.
PrintScript implements most of the PostScript language. Future releases will
complete it. The most notable omissions now are "clippath" (which Pro Page
doesn't use), and the dashed line option in Pro Page.
PrintScript supports Professional Page, as well as other packages that produce
PostScript output. In addition, Postscript commands can be input directly.
It comes with two fonts- a Times-Roman-like one, and a Helvetica-like one. It
can also use PostScript fonts from other vendors- we use "Classic" from
LaserUp! in our March ads, for example. Metrics are not yet Adobe compatible.

PrintScript doesn't require any additional coprocessors. We use the IEEE math
librarieso a math coprocessor could be utilSed this way- we don't support
!@specifically, though. It does need a lot of RAM, depending on how elaborate
your page is. Our March Info ad, which uses several fonts, rotated text,
images, etc., needs almost the full 2M we have. A simpler page takes less.
The March Info ad takes about 25-30 minutes to print; the AmigaWorld ad takes
15 minutes. The transmission time to the Laserjet is a bottleneck, since the
page is done as a raster graphic. The DeskJet driver is a bit faster.
All our ads are printed using PostScript, PrintScript, and the Laserjet. The
Deskjet's output looks very nice, too- as good as the Laserjet, I think.
PrintScript costs $89, and will be released in early February. We'll be
selling only through direct mail-order at first, though we do hope to interest
distributors at some point! We don't want to take orders until we're ready to
ship, and we'll announce that here.
Our brochures should be back from the printers "Real Soon Now"(!). Please
email me your address if you'd like me to send you one.
And thanks for your interest!

I've still got one question: As ProfPage does not support putting single boxes
in different angles, do you support such a thing???? I need it for our
advertisements (our logo is done in Helvletica and it's going across the screen
about 30 degrees up to the right). Will there be an interpreter for PostScript
as well (like the TeX interpreter)?
