That's too bad that it might come off that way.We have a 16 bit unit that
hooks up to our Atari.They are on the right track but haven't been able to
pull off the software yet.I would rather see some sort of stand alone(as in
NOT using the Amiga's internal sound processing)unit that wound have the
ability to play at least 16 voices at the same time,with each voice being
able to play back a different sample.With the 2000 having open slots,I
would like to fill at least one with a high quality signal processor.The
problem with the ones you mention is that not a single one could be (as far
as I've heard) used in a studio.Synclavier type performance out of my
Amiga, if ya can do it for a Mac the (what was you system like by the way?)
Amiga seems like a natural.
Kurt – Un fortunately is comes down to actual dollars, given the high cost
of R&D for Amiga Hardware, we would have to have a fairly large customer
base out there wanting the product to make it a viable product.
How about a Zorro-to-NuBus adaptor? Would that help? Just kidding – but I
have heard rumors from time to time of the elusive 16-bit board. I'd love
to take a load off AMy's mind when I'm crunching those realtime spectra and
do it with a DSP too. I guess I'm the guy they built the NeXt for…. too
bad it's not worth going through college again!
Henry – We too think the NeXt has alot of possibilities, but we are keeping
our checkbooks closed until they let us know what they are going to do in
the color arena. We have our Renderman specs sitting in a drawer just
waitin.
Hey, that reminds me… Are you planning to do anything with Renderman on
the Amiga? And while I'm remembering questions I've always wanted to ask
you, I know Turbo Silver can generate an image in a 21 bit absolute RGB
mode… Can it generate an image like that in an arbitrary resolution?
(Like 1000 x 1000, or worse?) And if so, what kind of memory requirements

The answer to that has to be well….. yes and no. One of the nice things
about our RGBN/RGB8 format is the ability to modify it to different depths
and sizes. The next rev of the software will allow the generation of
larger or smaller images and user selectable bitplanes. Stan
