In version 2.1 which includes CrossDos you use the FORMAT program out of the System directory/drawer/folder on your SYS: partition. (If you have a bridgeboard (BB) with Janus 2.1, you should first set Flipper to MAN and select DF0. If you don't have a BB, nevermind!) This program will have the appropriate selection to format PC0: to 1.44 MB. You can also select the label from the requestor that appears after clicking format on the FORMAT selector. The PCUtil programs come from version 1.3. I doubt that you'll be able to use these programs with good results on a high density drive. Thanks for the information. I thought that I should just be able to change the BlocksPerTrack to 18 for a high density drive. But I can't get PC0: or PC1: to work at 720K. I think it is a problem with my startup-sequence. I was rearranging it the other day and they worked for a while. But I can't remember what I changed and now they don't work again. What would make my machine not recognize StackSize or Handler or other things in my MountList? Kevin Holloway 70606,172

Kevin, Since installing a C= HiD drive on my A2xxx all I did was put the MF2HD disks in the drive and they were recognized as high density. I did nothing to the pc0: mountlist. I had some pre-formatted IBM disks and they worked just fine. I formatted one of them to Amiga FFS and it came up as 1760K. Moving the HiD disk over to the Macintosh and AccessPC recognized it too, I was able to transfer Adobe Illustrator IBM.EPS artwork to the floppy and then to the Amiga. Pagestream 2.2 loaded the graphics just fine from the 1.44MB disk in the C= HiD drive. I can't begin to tell you how nice it is to finally be able to use these disks. File transfers to/from the MAC and IBM at work are so much easier. Make sure that the following files are present in your system and at the proper locations: L:CrossDOSFileSystem devs:DOSDrivers/PC0 devs:mfm.device Christopher

Kevin, You may have to post your startup-sequence and your MountList for us to help you with that. I know that, for my configuration, the high density drive (HDD) had to go into the DF0: position. I put the PC0:, PC1:, and PC2: icons in my WBStartup drawer. PC2: is a copy of PC1:. I edited PC0: to increase the BlocksPerTrack simply to be consistent with the fact that the HDD is in the DF0: position. Actually the bootup ROM softwares 'sees' it. I've been able to read 720K diskettes from PC0:, but I refrain from formatting 720K diskettes on DF0:/PC0:. I use one of the regular drives to either format or write to 720K diskettes even if I have to use the Janus AREAD/AWRITE commands with the /b switch.
